Stronger than expected winnings from big gamblers have hurt Star City Holdings Ltd's earnings in the first half of the calender year.

The Sydney Casino operator said yesterday it had lost $10.5million to high rollers in the period and admitted that the losses would have ``a negative impact" on its results.

The loss rate to big gamblers underlined the two-sided nature of the much-vaunted high-roller tax concession the casino won from the NSW Government last year.
